Management Systems in General
These kinds of management systems - MAHA has had this kind of quality management system in place for many years now and now also has one for environmental management- demand certain contents. They have specifications for fulfilling necessary tasks. First, there is the planning which sets down goals and processes to achieve the implementation in the company. The next logical step is the execution of the processes.
Essential for this is monitoring of the processes in relation to the existing requirements and formulated goals of the activity in the company. And finally corrective actions whereby processes can be optimized and adapted in a continuously improving situation.
Environmental Management
What, in particular, is the impact of such an environmental management, which in MAHA’s case, is based on Standard ISO 14001 (there are also other basic principles). In the broadest sense it deals with operational and official environmental aspects of the company. It serves to guarantee a sustainable environmental compatibility of operational products and processes. On the other hand it also requires that employees and others who participate in the company processes adapt their behaviour, i.e. including suppliers.
With the introduction of this environmental management system, MAHA top management accepts the responsibility for this ecological-economical tool to achieve environmental sound production in all areas. It serves as a guideline for a constantly improving process. These are maintained by regular target commitments, checking of target attainment and repeated evaluation of the management system. Above and beyond it provides the security of knowing that statutory regulations are known and conformed to.
The Impact of using an Environmental Management System
-
Satisfied customers through high-quality performance which evolves from concern about environmentally relevant aspects.
-
Increase in employee motivation through participation in the generating of environmental target processes and their implementation.
-
Integrating of suppliers. For this, important environmental criteria for the company are evaluated in the framework of product and service purchasing in order to attain and maintain the highest possible level in the integrated areas.
- MAHA’s goal: on the basis of the goals named earlier, we will also improve our reputation as all-in-one suppler of motor vehicle test technology and lifting technology in the environmental field so as to cement and expand our market position.
Responsibilities
It is normal procedure that due to the importance and enforceability of these kinds of management systems they fall under the direct responsibility of top management. The managing director for technology has responsiblity for environmental technology at MAHA. Herbert Schmidt is responsible for quality management. Secum GmbH in Kempten is the external consulting company. The certification was done by an external, independent test organization, in this case DEKRA undertook the certification process.
