New Subsidiary in South Africa

The MAHA Group has added another subsidiary- in South Africa– and it is officially called MAHA South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. The previous dealer in South Africa, Rob Braham, has been integrated into this partnership and has been named the managing director. In a building with 1,000 m² warehouse and workshop space, and 200 m² demonstration, showroom and office space MAHA South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. presents bundled expertise, controls sales and service activities and guarantees optimum spare parts supply.

South Africa is the largest national economy in Africa and has enormous development potential; above all else in the automobile industry, particularly in the supplier field. New testing regulations require additional test equipment or upgrading of existing test stands. And the government is considering the introduction of periodic vehicle testing. With this measure they are hoping to improve the safety standards in road traffic. First in line to be tested is public mass transit which is primarily covered by private minivans, whose safety condition is sub-standard at best.

As a Global Player MAHA has subsidiaries throughout the world. The goal was and is the expansion and optimization of the service network. In this way, the position as system supplier is consolidated, expanded and additional market shares gained. With Rob Braham, a manager with enormous amount of knowledge in the industry and market- MAHA’s success story in South Africa will carry forward.

MAHA has been active in South Africa since 1991. More than 400 vehicle test stands have been sold to organizations in South Africa since then, including 140 private test stations and government test stations.

Motor vehicle and truck roller brake testers were shown at the S.A.B.S and met all test standards from the start. This is extremely important as this certification is needed in order to be allowed to deliver to South Africa. In March 1992 the first motor vehicle and truck roller brake tester was installed in Rosslyn. Over the years MAHA received numerous orders for outfitting of testing stations and institutions of various kinds.

The establishment of the MAHA South Africa (Pty.) Ltd. subsidiary is an investment in the future. A total of 520 existing inspection stations for vehicle inspection and an additional 200 newly planned stations demand customer-specific solutions. This is the ideal chance for MAHA to increase and consolidate its market share. We react to the special needs of new markets with human knowhow, technical innovations and highest flexibility.

South Africa has shown a constant GDP growth for years and the government is striving to direct all efforts to the positive development of the country, society and economy. The automobile industry plays a major role in this development. We have recognized this potential and will continue to support it.
